Best Looks for Fall Wedding Guests
Fall wedding season is just around the corner. Are you ready to toast the bride and groom as the best dressed guest? Finding the perfect wedding guest dress is never easy, and unpredictable weather only makes the task more challenging. Temperatures can swing from 80 to 30 in fall, never mind the possibility of blazing sun or freezing rain, and choosing a dress based on either extreme just doesn’t work. None of us want to be the one that got it wrong and shows up in a flowery satin dress during a Nor’easter!
Finding that perfect middle ground is the way to go and is easier than you think. Especially since this years’ trends include a wide selection of necklines, sleeves and dress lengths. Our Stylists have got you covered on what’s truly trending this fall along with our top tips to finding that perfect outfit that will steal the show, I mean, ceremony!
Warm Bold Color and Prints
During the cooler months, trade-in summer pastels for rich jewel tones and warmer prints. This year is all about fall florals with rich autumn colors or strong saturated jewel tones like marigold and hot pink.
Lux Textures and Fabrics
In fall we turn toward cool-weather fabrics with luxe textures such as lace, ruffles, velvet, and satin. Opt for lighter versions in early fall and save the true heavy weight fabrics until late fall and winter when you are sure the weather won’t turn suddenly warm. After all, it is the texture and look that will provide the true “feel of fall” you are looking for.
Planned Layers
Like everyday in fall, layering is key! Be sure to take the time to find a great looking layer that works with your dress. The extra coverage is perfect for cool breezes or as extra coverage for more conservative ceremonies. There are 2 key ways to approach finding the perfect layer.
First - A layer that works seamlessly with your dress to heighten the overall look and show-off the dress. The best versions don’t over power your dress but instead work with it blending style and color. Boleros and short open-cut jackets hit higher and allow your dress to shine, as do drapey wraps that have fitted sleeves to hold it in place. The one below is one of my favorites and comes in several colors.
Second- A layer that creates a completely different look than the dress alone. Or as I like to call it, a “Big Reveal” option! A slip dress in a bright color or a simple black dress layered with an amazing tuxedo jacket like the one below creates two distinct looks to take you from ceremony to after-party. It’s sophisticated coverage for the ceremony, and the perfect party dress for a late night reception.
