Opt for Pastels

What’s the first thing that likely comes to mind when you think of spring? Pastel colors! Pink, green, pale blue, and lavender are perfect for the spring wedding season, especially for daytime events.

This midi dress is an excellent option, the on-trend side slit adds a little more interest and makes it a bit more formal than a shorter dress. Pair it with a satin jacket or shawl, then keep it simple or layer on sparkling jewelry and accessories for even more glamour.

Go Bolder for Nighttime Weddings

Although pastels add some color for daytime or afternoon spring weddings, don’t shy away from wearing bold or more formal fabrics and colors for spring weddings, especially those evening receptions. For a more formal or conservative look, wear a jacket or shawl to the ceremony, and remove it for the party! Don’t forget to plan your shoes and consider if you will be on grass, gravel or will do a lot of walking, standing or dancing. A pair of booties will add a modern edge and are so practical!

Choose Floral Patterns

You know what they say: April showers bring May flowers! There’s no better pattern to wear in spring than floral prints. A mix of blue, orange, purple, and green in this dress adds just the right amount of color to your outfit. The A-line cut flatters the hips and nips in creating a waist. Bold prints allow you to minimize accessories if you choose, but don’t be afraid to add accessories to a bold dress either. Choose clean but bold pieces that can hold their own with the print!

Select Light Fabrics

Are you attending a destination wedding this spring that’s somewhere a little more tropical and warm? Don’t be afraid to add brighter colors and lighter fabrics to keep you cool in the heat! Style it with a hat to protect your face from the sun and choose practical footwear to make it easier for you to walk outdoors, especially if the wedding is taking place on a beach. Check your invitation for the dress code – some beach weddings remain formal while others opt for Hawaiian shirts and sundresses!

Add Ruffles for Details

What’s an easy way to add a little flare to a more basic dress? Ruffles! This v-neck cut with the ruffle collar incorporates some fun into this classic style. Pair it with a simple necklace and some statement earrings for the ultimate spring look.

Go with the Jumpsuit

Jumpsuits were practically made for weddings! (Okay, except for the bathroom visits!) Jumpsuits are a fun alternative to the usual and give you the option to turn it easily into a more formal look and provide the opportunity to tear it up on the dance floor without worrying about flashing other wedding guests. Pair it with a sequin jacket or shawl to keep you warm from the breeze at night.

Ask for Clarity if Needed

Unsure of what the right dress code is for the wedding you’re attending? Always check the invitation and wedding website for clues on what type of attire is recommended or requested. The recent trend toward unique dress codes such as “Fancy Farm” and “Creative Black Tie” confuse most everyone! So don’t hesitate to reach out to others to compare notes. The level of formality of the mailed invitation and the website typically set the tone. A gold embossed invitation with formal language implies a more formal event. Another indicator is the level of dress of the wedding party. If they are wearing khakis and Hawaiian shirts, you will be fine in a more casual look!
