Upcoming Pre-Spring Styles: Leather
By the time February rolls around, I am ready to throw away my puffer, ditch the boots and jump both feet into spring fashions regardless of the temperature. Each season allows the opportunity to pick and choose which trends to embrace. More important than what is “in style” is how does it work with my body and fit my lifestyle. So, I’m not going to wear bras under my blazers this season per Lanvin. Nor am I going to partake in the grandma crochet boho vibe (no offense grandma). If, like me, you’re chomping at the bit to try on some of the upcoming pre-spring styles, read on. I am super excited about one trend in particular. LEATHER.
My love of leather is truly validated this season. You’ll see it everywhere in every incarnation real leather, vegan leather, leather pants, shirts, dresses and coats! I love the versatility of this wonderful trend. I’ll wear leather with a blazer and boots now, and with a short sleeve blouse or t-shirt as the weather warms up. While black is always a staple, nudes and other neutrals are showing up on the runway and on the streets, looking more luxurious than rebellious, and just as easy to wear. I am also loving the accessories that are trending right now.
Chunky chains and substantial hoops have made a serious come back. (Did hoops ever really go out?) Timeless yet impactful, these items are easy add ons that allow you to elevate any outfit and also stay current with the trends. Always true to my cardinal rule of keeping my fashion choices an expression of me first, rather than simply following the latest must have, I’m especially happy when both worlds collide and I can truly embrace some of what’s in style for the season.
I have to admit, there are quite a few upcoming spring trends that are beyond my comfort zone, but that’s for another post. In the meantime, it’s never too early to take a peek into your own closets to see what might be transition/spring ready. The ground hog did see his shadow didn’t he?
